Private port operator on the Danube

Our Romania law firm's competition law department successfully advised an important private port operator on the Danube to obtain together with a state company the approval from the EU commission of the first state aid approved in the  sector in the context of a global project which aims to upgrade the waterside infrastructure of the port of Galati by filling the port basin to create additional capacity to perform direct transshipment operations and dredging in the basin located in the "Port Bazinul Nou" area, in order to obtain a modern multimodal platform with a capacity of 150.000 TEU

The value of the state aid approved is 27, 4 millions Euros, and represents a premiere in the sector, as for the first time, among the beneficiary of this state aid is a fully private beneficiary which is the client of our law firm – Port Bazinul Nou SA.

 Impressa Pizzarotti

The firm were also successful in a dispute resolution case based on a FIDIC type contract, solved in the Romanian Courts.  The case is a practice setting case, as for the first time the Court have granted to our client Impressa Pizzarotti damages of approx. 10 mil Euros for the unlawful termination of a public procurement contract by the contracting authority.  The dispute resolution team for this case had been consisting  from Marian Onica Jarka  as litigator for Cunescu, Balaciu & Asociatii and dr. Beatrice Onica Jarka as coordinator partner of the case.
